Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
Last week my hometown church’s youth group packed up and headed down to Tampa, FL for World Changers 2011. The Pastor, another guy, and myself were the chaperones. I had not been non a mission trip in years due to some changing of staff in the church, so this was an exciting opportunity and I was ready to go!
We left town early Monday morning and and reached Tampa around 1:30pm. We were assigned to our groups and I was assigned to a group called “Brick Bats.” We were given the job of painting a two story church in a week. Here is a picture of my group:
We all worked hard and still managed to find time to goof off a little. Chandler, the guy beside me, kept feeding my pick-up lines the entire week. Lines like, “Roses are red, Bananas are yellow, won’t you go out with THIS charming fellow?” lol. He was too funny. And two of the girls from our church was in my group. So I got to know them pretty well over the week too.
I don’t feel as close to God as I would have liked to gotten, but loving and living for God is not based on feelings alone, and I have to remember that. I just need to dive into the Word and let go and let God. He’ll handle the rest.
And this Sunday I am also attending my new Sunday School at the church I’m visiting in Macon! I’m really looking forward to it! I couldn’t go this week because my family and I left for Washington, D.C. only hours after Kyle and I returning from Tampa… Talk about a road trip!
The next blog will be pictures from D.C. that I’ve taken so far, and I’ll add to them as the week progresses.
